Man is a manifestation of energy from the sun, through the vegetable. He is aggressive. He eats. He builds himself. He un-builds his environment. Crudely and by aggressive force he rebuilds into himself and into his kind what his environment affords. In common with all the animal forms, he multiplies his numbers by destroying his subsistence. The Malthusian cycle becomes the rule of his accumulating life. Death marches with life; increasing numbers shortens days.
