Item 1112
Recollection by Spencer MacCallum from conversation on the same occasion as Item 1110
/The story of the good Samaritan in the New Testament was not used as an illustration of the golden rule, but to define “neighbors.” The inn keeper of the story stayed in business to the present day. But the Samaritan joined the robbers and tax collectors along the road to relieve travelers of their wealth and set up social securities for them, and is long since dead./
