The communist conspiracy gains powerful favor and support from the long-time indoctrination of inherent depravity and original sin, which calls for a superior authority to proscribe free and spontaneous arrangements among men, and to prescribe or at least regulate their behavior and their belief.
This is in conflict with the positive Christian precept of a Kingdom of Heaven on the earth to be accomplished by the Golden Rule of each acting freely towards others in the same manner as he would have others do unto him — a free technology of contract and exchange whereby to perform reciprocal services and create mutual good. The practice of this divine precept in the reciprocal manner — the only way in which it can be long continued or enlarged — has in recent time brought into the Western and Christian world such an abundance of life and length of days that, even though not seen or intended as such, has gone far towards building the promised Kingdom in our midst.
But this divine technology has been evolved only with respect to those services and goods that are separately and individually enjoyed. When it comes to those necessary things that appertain to the whole community and cannot be possessed or enjoyed exclusively of others, the non-coercive relationships have but little evolved, either in the social and business practices or in the minds of men. Thus they remain under the domination of political and coercive powers, as were all the necessities of life in the ancient regimes, and the conscious loyalties and worship of men remain rather in the domain of power than in the realm of freedom — in the kingdom of force and destruction instead of the kingdom of freedom by contract and exchange.
This belief in the eternal necessity of a power dominion over a population essentially depraved is especially acceptable among men whose academic distinctions suggest a lesser depravity that should qualify them for governmental and educational careers and predisposes them, often idealistically, to the communist lure. From such modern classical and academic sources the vast majority of minds have been indoctrinated with inverted notions concerning the operation of the Golden Rule of contract and exchange in the maintenance of a free society. Most notably, the recompenses that the Exchange Society automatically confers in exchange for the contractual and thereby productive administration of property — the recompenses for proprietary services that are called profits — are damned as destructive and unjust.
But even more fundamental is the academic doctrine and social heresy of the “unearned increment” — that the automatic social recompense conferred by society upon its proprietary officers, in exchange for their services in making a contractual and proprietary instead of a political allocation of its sites and resources, is not earned by them. This false doctrine of “unearned increment” is probably the greatest present-day obstacle to the rapid extension of proprietary and thus contractual /administration/ into the community services and affairs.
