Dear Sir:

My friend, Miss Marie Leighton, suggests you to me as one of the persons likely to take an intellectual interest in some of the social analyses I have been making during the past several years. Accordingly I am sending you a concise but closely and accurately reasoned inter­pretation of the institution of property in land.  This, as you see, was not written for popular entertainment but is intended to be rewarding to those who are diligent enough to apply themselves seriously.

I also enclose copy of a little booklet entitled “The Inspiration of Beauty” and which advances ideas and conceptions upon which I hope it may give you some pleasure to reflect.
