You have been highly recommended by our good friend, Dr. Kershner. After examining the pamphlet entitled “The Christian Doctrine of Man,” we are interested in obtaining more information as to financial arrangements which are customary for this course.

If we could hear from you, it would be helpful as we formulate our plans for the spring of 1961. We would like very much to have you drop by the campus when you are conveniently in our neighborhood. Being recommended by Dr. Kershner is certainly an honor which I am sure you cherish. We regard him with utmost esteem.

Dear Mr. Heath:

As you know, our Freedom Forum is March 27, 28, and 29. On the afternoon of March 27, all the conferees will be our special guests at a reception at the President’s home. We would like very much for you to be the honored guest on that occasion and be available to chat informally with the con­ferees concerning the economic situation of our nation.

Since this falls on the first day of the holidays preceding Easter Sunday, I thought perhaps you would have no difficulty in being away from your assignments at Harvey Mudd College. We will look forward to hearing from you in the possibility of having you on campus for this occasion.

I would also like to invite you to be my personal guest at the luncheon honoring Senator Barry Goldwater on Wednesday, March 29, at the Biltmore Hotel if you can arrange it for your schedule.
