Letter written from New York City to Dr. Stanwood Cobb, 17 Grafton Street, Chevy Chase, Maryland

April 29, 1949

Dear Dr. Cobb:

Please do not think I have not many many times held you in happy remembrance since your kind letter of last summer. I did hope to see you before you left for Maine and I hope to see you now although it be a year late.

No, I have not been writing anything, not even letters as you well know, but with some secretarial assistance I am getting off a few now. It is not really that I have not been writing; for I have written quite a good deal in the last few years most of it dealing with the fundamentals of physical science and their philosophic substratum. However, this has been practically all in the rough and for my own exercise and edification, neither sufficiently polished or complete to offer for publication. My principal and supposedly finished work entitled Citadel, Market and Altar, being an exposition of Socionomy as an objective science of society still languished unpublished and unsung. This is partly because I felt it could be greatly strengthened by the addition of a few chapters showing in graphic detail the new profit seeking business organizations for which free enterprise can expand into the community services /and/ thereby give great technological impetus to the unconscious empirical social engineering

that has brought modern civilization thus far. Promoters prospectuses and plans for organization need to be prepared. I have been trying to obtain some competent assistance on these lines.

I hope you have made fine progress on the three books you referred to and are well on their way /check original/ to appreciative readers. I have made partial plans to go to Winter Park again this past winter but they were finally deferred. I suppose you will be in Maine this Summer. I hope to see you before you go and learn something of your present prospective work and plans.

With all good wishes,
