Carbon of a letter to Norman S. Ream, First Methodist Church, Neenah, Wisconsin
December 3, 1956
Dear Rev. Ream:
We wish to express our pleasure at having met you at the recent Conference in Chicago, and to say that we think of your contribution as perhaps the most directly spiritual in its quality of any that was made. It was especially gratifying to have you point out that certain human processes are in accord with the divine purpose toward the advancement of life, and that it is possible for us to find happiness in becoming participants in this promotion. We are particularly impressed with this point of view, as you will observe from some of our discussion topics, schedule of which we enclose.
We were inspired by your annunciation of the principle that God’s purposes alone are not self-defeating, and must in all cases, soon or late, prevail. As a specific case, we could not help wondering if Mr. Hutchinson could realize that any money made out of war supplies would have to be spent in a market depleted of all the wealth and services that went into their manufacture.
Again congratulating you, and looking forward to further association, we remain
Sincerely yours,
SH/m Enc.
