Carbon of a letter to Edward R. Dewey, Foundation for the Study of Cycles, East Brady, Pennsylvania

June 19, 1957

Dear Mr. Dewey:

A professional friend has called my attention to your interest in the cyclic character of organizations and events, with the suggestion that it would interest you to know of my cyclic approach to the study of populations of men as societies under the “energy concept of population.”

I feel that the concept of cycles is a very useful one in perhaps every field of investigation, and I am happy that your organization is doing so much to promote that point of view. I dare say you are familiar with the work of Dr. John J. Grebe, Director of Physical Research for Dow Chemical Company. If not, I think my own Foundation will be able to send you something of his notable work.

I am sending you with my compliments an inscribed copy of my Citadel, Market and Altar, published this month, in which you will find some exposition of the cyclic principle in social phenomena.

Sincerely yours,

SH/m
