Carbon of a letter to R.C. Hoiles, The Register, 519 North Sycamore Street, Santa Ana, CA
1959
Dear Mr. Hoiles:
For a good while back, I have been thinking how I owe it to myself to express to you some appreciation of the generous publicity which you gave my Citadel, Market and Altar a good many months ago. It is indeed good to know that there is in our land a considerable amount of editorial authority that realizes whither our political set-up is drifting and is more or less alert for ways and means for social redemption through non-political evolution and growth. None of us likes to be alone, either in his sentimental or in his intellectual attachments. You have therefore given me more comfort than I can adequately express.
There is a possibility that I may visit your part of the world within the next few months. If and when I do, I shall certainly consider myself invited to have a visit with you — and perhaps also with some of your like-minded and like-motivated friends.
I think you will be happy to note that my Citadel, Market and Altar has met with some cordial reception both here and abroad, as indicated by the printed matter enclosed, although it has had but little general circulation as yet.
I hope the world-political situation has not been discouraging to you, in view of the long-term movements in history which constitute the general trend.
With all good wishes to yourself and for the continued growth of your libertarian publications,
Sincerely yours,
SH/m Enc.
