Pencil notes for a letter 1961?
The Laws of nature among men. The Common Law, self enacting, self enforcing. A philosophical survey of the autonomous processes in which the organic human society develops and is maintained. Spencer Heath LL.B., LL.M.
But if I should do so it might well take such form as The Common Laws of Nature Among Men. This would have to do with those customary modes of action, self-enacting and self-enforcing, wherein each man prospers others as they prosper him and civilization thus goes on. The illustrations would be drawn from the natural sciences, from history (seen as growth) and from all except political or criminal current affairs. Alternatively, I might propose The Philosophic Unity of Science and Art. This would have to do with the distinctively and uniquely human mind, above the limitations of mere animal psychology, in which lies the capacity to conceive and to create.
