My Dear Sir:
I believe you are at the head of a large and growing branch of governmental enterprise the success of which must be largely due to your discriminative selection of employes.
If you have a position to be filled that requires more than ordinary natural capacity for adapting means to ends in engineering or kindred lines I would request an opportunity to become eligible thereto.
My particular bent of mind, together with considerable practical experience and technical education, gives me an intimate grasp of engineering work and the means to its accomplishment. I desire a position requiring a knowledge of engineering and in which some initiative and a strong predilection for excellence in everything will be well regarded.
I need not here detail my experience and antecedents more than to say that the former has extended to many branches of engineering work including the design of hydraulic and various other kinds of machinery. I am now employed at a very moderate salary and seek opportunity rather than great immediate advancement. I shall be pleased to call on you by appointment.
