Letter to Heath from Edmund W. Sinnott, Dean, Yale University Graduate School, New Haven, Connecticut
May 14, 1953
Dear Mr. Heath:
Thank you for your very kind letter of the other day with regard to “Cell and Psyche.” I am delighted that you have found it stimulating and that you agree with its general position. It seems to me that speculations of this sort, especially those that have a pretty firm grounding in scientific fact, are worth making for they may lead to real progress.
Yes, I have read with pleasure Dr. McCrady’s essay on religious perspectives in biology, for I happened to be on the Hazen Foundation Committee that got together a series of essays of this sort which now, as perhaps you know, have appeared in book form.
I wonder if you have seen a book that the Viking Press brought out under my authorship recently entitled “Two Roads to Truth.” If not, you might care to look at it; for the point of view is much the same as that in “Cell and Psyche.” Thank you again for your letter.
Very truly yours,
/s/ Edmund W. Sinnott
