Carbon of letter to Rosanna B. Lewis, New York City
November 2, 1956
Dear Rosanna:
Thanks a whole lot for the card you so kindly sent for the meeting of the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen. I appreciate this very much. This Arthur Godfrey is a near neighbor of my daughter in Waterford, Virginia. But I am not as keen on him or on aviation either as when it was in its infancy. It was a thrill to help it get born and see it grow.
I am now engaged with Spencer’s help, on a new development that I consider far more important for the future than anything that has ever happened since ancient times. We are exceedingly busy with this, so I am sending the ticket back to you so that you can be as gracious to someone else as you have been to me.
I am terribly sorry I did not get around to Mrs. Rose’s tea at the Seminary. I did not realize that it was that very same Tuesday, instead of the following Tuesday, until it was too late to go.
Appreciatively,
SH/m
