Carbon of letter to Walter Donald Kring, Unitarian Church of All Souls, Lexington Avenue and 80th Street, New York City
April 22, 1957
Dear Dr. Kring:
Dr. Donald Andrews of Johns Hopkins is a marvelous combination of physical scientist and music enthusiast — and he merges the two. He has made a specialty of the music discovered literally in the atoms as the basis of the music of the spheres.
I expect to see Dr. Andrews again very soon, and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to place a copy of your sermon, “THE MUSIC OF MAN AND THE WORSHIP OF GOD,” in his hands. Won’t you send me a copy or two for that purpose?
My grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed that sermon of yours. It is marvelous in its beauty and in its depth, without going at all over the head of anyone. It looks as though I have stumbled on some of the reasons you were sought after for New York.
Cordially,
SH/m
P.S. Since writing the above, I have obtained some copies of your sermon on music and worship, one of which is being sent to Dr. Andrews. But I thought we might as well send the above letter on to you just the same.
