Dear Mr. Heath,
Your book arrived today, and was received by my sons and me with joy and pride.
Currently I have been reading Will Durant’s Story of Philosophy, and by coincidence was midst the chapter on Herbert Spencer! Earlier this spring I finished (?) Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason — and Man the Unknown —
Needless to say I am anxious to plunge into your Citadel, Market & Altar.
We thought you were so generous in your acknowledgment to Uncle Crawford — naturally to your grandson, Spencer.
You must know how singularly I have always loved Uncle Crawford — and have felt that his talent has never been more widely acclaimed. Therefore, I am grateful to you for permanently (?) bringing at least his name to the public view.
Lovingly,
Ruth
