Letter to Dr. Virgil Jordan, Aurora, West Virginia
August 17, 1957
Dear Dr. Jordan:
It was exceedingly gratifying to me to receive your kind letter of July 15th. For I have long felt that there ought to be an articulate and inspiring philosophy of modern capitalism and free enterprise, and have entertained hope that my own contributions might prove to be significant in that direction.
With this thought in mind, I am planning to present copies of CITADEL, MARKET AND ALTAR to a number of the Officers and Trustees of The Conference Board. I trust there will be no impropriety in including with the books an extract from your very generous letter, together with a similar appreciation from Dr. William Ernest Hocking that I have been happy to receive.
I hope you are having a very pleasant summer in your mountain retreat and that your further reading will justify all your first impressions.
With all good wishes, I Remain
Sincerely yours,
SH/m
