Carbon of letter to G. Paul Butler, Bookmere, Litle Silver Point Road, Little Silver, New Jersey

September 10, 1957

Dear Mr. Heath:

It would be hard to tell you how much Spencer and I enjoyed the cordiality of yourself and family yesterday. It was more than kind of you to disarrange your other affairs for the sake of our visit.

From what I have seen of your BEST SERMONS, 1947-48 Edition, I am sure I shall enjoy reading many of its excellent selections.

Your practical suggestions have been helpful and inspiring. I have already been happy to communicate with Bishop Kennedy and Dr. Sockman, and am hopeful of fruitful contact with them.

Please convey also to Mrs. Butler our appreciation of her kind and gracious entertainment, and my congratulations on her happy participation in your work.

Cordially yours,

SH/m

P.S. A copy of The Divinity School Address of Emerson, of which I  spoke to you, is enclosed.
