Carbon of letter to Frank S. Meyer, National Review, 211 East 37th Street, New York 16, NY, September 24, 1957, and his reply of October 5, 1957

Dear Mr. Meyer:

This letter is to call your particular attention to my recently published CITADEL, MARKET AND ALTAR. This book has met with favorable comment from a number of influential persons, as per quotations from letters enclosed. I shall be happy if you can give it your thoughtful consideration for review in the columns of The National Review.

I hope it will be in order for me to suggest several seasoned writers, all of whom have some familiarity with my volume and I think might be happy to review it. There is Virgil Jordan, who among other things I believe is an accomplished reviewer, and there is Rose Wilder Lane, a wonderful libertarian writer in close sympathy with freedom everywhere. There is also V. Orville Watts, who we know from his correspondence has been a critical as well as appreciative reader. I happen to know that John Chamberlain would be glad to write such a review if it could be considered appropriate in view of his being part author, as it were. He would, of course, make some engaging reference to his possible disqualification.

I feel that The National Review, not being content with merely enumerating the sins of the opponents of freedom and of free enterprise, should be particularly receptive to a philosophy of capitalism as a divinely appointed instrument for the realization not only of material, but also of spiritual ideals.

Sincerely yours,
