The MASTER INSTITUTE, Department of Arts and Sciences, (formerly Roerich Museum) is carrying on a work for the development of appreciation and practical technique in the fine arts and for the enrichment of life through study of the principles and methods of the Arts and Sciences, both in the natural world and in the social realm.
Among those who are helping us realize our ideal we have, as a specialist in the Science of Society, Mr. Spencer Heath, (LL.M.) who gives an interpretation of social and economic phenomena that is as inspiring to the heart as it is illuminating to the understanding.
Mr. Heath finds throughout Nature a principle of creativeness by which all things tend persistently towards higher organic forms and relations. In the rhythmic repetitions of cosmic processes, of organic life, and of social development and decay he finds a unity of cause and method that gives diversities in results out of which only the patterns of creative harmony can go on and survive. As we apprehend this we find Beauty: – out of Nature’s vast phantasmagoria it flashes on the seeing eye and haunting melodies fill the listening heart.
It is Mr. Heath’s first concern to disclose the basic yet simple, harmonic pattern upon which our social and economic system has evolved. We would have his hearers discover the essential beauty of the creative process in Society and under this inspiration become integrated with each other and with Cosmic Nature as conscious factors in Creative Social Change.
In addition to his more formal presentation of his topics, Mr. Heath is particularly successful in the more intimate types of discussion. As a leader of discussion groups he is able to define the topic for discussion, assist each member in the expression of his particular view and finally, to draw together .. He is no idle theorist, having spent much of his life in active business and professional pursuits. The operation of creative principles is described in the simple language of daily life and by illustrations drawn from the most obvious facts of business experience and ordinary affairs.
If your organization would be interested in an aesthetic approach to the problem of social and individual redemption from the disintegrative influences with which we are so menaced and assailed we can arrange to have Mr. Heath attend one or more of your meetings and take part in such formal or informal discussion as may be the custom of your organization — without any obligation or responsibility on your part.
Awaiting your kind response, we remain
Very truly yours,
THE MASTER INSTITUTE
