My dear Mr. Heath:
This is to acknowledge receipt of your most generous contribution toward the beautification of our roadsides; not only have you contributed a variety of approximately one thousand shrubs and evergreens, but also, several desirable roadside locations on which to make our plantings.
Please, accept our most sincere thanks, and be assured that your contribution, will be much admired each day, by thousands of motorists.
I am, yours gratefully,
(Signed) S.W. Baumiller

Dear Mr. Heath: January 9th, 1934
In reply to your request that you and other citizens in Elkridge be allowed to plant a Christmas tree on the State Roads Commission’s plot located on the Washington-Baltimore Boulevard just south of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company’s tracks at the intersection of the road leading to Elkridge, this is to advise that I have taken the matter up with Chief Engineer Williar of this Commission and he is willing to allow you to carry out the planting of the Community Christmas Tree.
I feel, however, that you should be warned of the fact that the property, while owned by the State Roads Commission at the present time, may, at some future date, be sold and your request for permission to plant the tree and assurance that it will remain intact is only for the time during which this Commission has control of the property.
Mr. Baumiller advises me that he has talked to you about this and since I feel we understand each other thoroughly, you may proceed with the planting any time you see fit. I suppose Mr. Baumiller has told you that we are planning to put top soil on this plot and seed it during the spring. This will make a very attractive spot and coincide in some degree with the attractive site located on your property at the north end of the Elkridge relocation.
Very truly yours,
(Signed) Frank P. Scrivener, Jr.
Maintenance Engineer
