Jesus Christ came with a spiritual message to regenerate and revolutionize the world, to lift men out of the universal dominion of political power and force into a kingdom of liberty and love

For thousands of years among the nations there had been perpetual war, but He came into a world of universal peace. The nations were politically united under a Pax Romana, the peace of Rome that           The sword of Rome had reached out to all the nations known and policed them into a universal peace, a Pax Romana in which wars among them were abolished, leaving little more than border skirmishes against the nomadic hordes along the Barbarian frontiers

The nations had freedom from war but at what a price! The price was their liberty lost under the dominion of a regulating and all-absorbing central power. Freedom was crushed under the iron heel of power and their hopes of liberty and love had all but vanished from the hearts of men

Such was the one-world into which Christ came — a world that had all but abandoned hope
