Item 350

Penciled by Heath on a 3×5 card.

February 13, 1959

Religion tells men what the ideal society will be like and the principle (of love) on which it must be established, but it does not teach them how to apply it in such manner as to include all numbers of men — in ways that can be impersonal and thereby universal — divine. It has not taught them the creative character, the spiritual nature of mutual exchange under the numerical rationality of contract and consent.350
