Item 14
Jottings on back of an envelope, presumably made at the Conference on the Unity of Sciences at Cambridge; the envelope postmarked September 1, 1939
Felt delight not even offered as a definition. Not accepted by everybody as a definition. This whole session has centered around the vague idea of value. But nobody (but me) even offers any definition at all.
If some thing is not important, then importance itself is unimportant.
If value is not the value of some-thing, then value itself is of no value.
They all attempt to discuss a relationship without reference to what is related. Hence get nowhere.
