Random taping by Spencer MacCallum from conversation with Heath
At first sight it seems paradoxical that the object of experience should be called the subject matter of experience. This is only because the matter of experience is objective, being outside the self which experiences. The object of experience is subjective with respect to itself, hence it is the subject matter of objective experience — subjective with respect to itself, objective with respect to whatever it is that does the experiencing. I think the terms are not confusing if one thinks much about it without the distinction being drawn. (I just mentioned it to you because it seemed like a curiosity.)
