Item 878

Verbatim note by Heath’s grandson, Spencer MacCallum, from conversation with Heath during the time they were sharing Heath’s apartment at 11 Waverly Place, New York City 3. As Heath said, they did most of their cooking “in the refrigerator.” Among other things, they’d slice corn meal mush cold from the refrigerator.

November 1, 1955

MacCallum (looking in the ice box to see what there

might be): “Will you have some corn meal mush?”

Heath: “Yes — but not mush.”
