CONSIDER THE ERG (Thou Sluggard)

An erg is –

     The amount of work or action performed by a force (push or pull) of 1 dyne acting through a space or distance of 1 centimeter — without any regard to velocity or time required.

     Action or energy or work is simply force moving through space. An energy unit is a force-space unit — a unit of force acting and moving through a unit of space. Hence, a number of energy units (ergs) is any number of force- units times any number of space units — any product of force acting times space or distance moved.

     Any amount of work or action is the product of force and motion or space without any regard to the proportions as to force and motion or space of which it is composed, and without any regard to the time required or involved.
