Mass units only cumulative or aggregative. Durational units also are cumulative and aggregative. Changes in either or both of these change only the quantity of energy or action in the event — the number of ergs. The kind of action is determined by the ratio of mass (dynes) to velocity. The energy rate determines the kind of energy; the duration at that rate, the quantity or amount.
For a unit of time, mass determines the rate of energy or action
The quantity of energy or action at a given rate — ratio of mass units per motion unit times motion units per time unit, the quantity depends on the duration
