MUSIC
Music is sound falling in regular successive waves upon the ear producing in the amateur an elevated feeling of calm serenity. Wonderful effects are produced by the power of music. When King Saul was troubled he would send for David the shepherd boy to come and play the harp, which would immediately drive away the sorrowful spirit. It is said soldiers marching into battle are inspired by a band of music and the horses seem to catch the animated spirit of their riders and dash forward with proud speed to the din of battle. There is music in nature, the strains of sweet melodies from birds, the roar of the ocean’s surf, the murmuring of rippling brooks and the low whistle of the evening breeze touch the chords of our immortal souls reverberating the beautiful music. “Thou shall never die but live on through all eternity singing with numberless heavenly spirits the great Redeemer’s praise.”
