Carbon of a letter from Heath to Emerson Goble, Editor, National Real Estate Journal, 139 North Clark Street, Chicago
October 7, 1939.
Original is missing.
Dear Mr. Goble:
When a man is profoundly convinced that he is intellectually on the right track towards very important and valuable practical results, it makes him persistent even to the point of boldness. Hence this letter and enclosure.
Had you seen fit to make use of the material that I sent you on September 8th, I should have been much more surprised than I was at your courteous rejection of the same.
The matter I am sending you, herewith, is not being sent with any thought or design as to its being published by you. It is, in fact, an important portion of the material I have been preparing for publication in book form for some considerable time.
My present purpose is to hit you in the eye intellectually, as it were, with the ten little groups of questions of the purely common-sense business variety that I have prepared for the consideration of persons who have any vital interest in real estate and its future as to profit and value. I am not going to ask you to read more than these preliminary questions. If when you have read them, your mind should be stimulated to the point of desiring to go over the considerably extended discussion that follows, it will be entirely all right with me, but I wish here and now to exempt you from any obligation to do so.
I would, however, appreciate a few lines from you, indicating your reaction, as a business man, who believes in the administration of property for pecuniary profit, to the preliminary questions that I have set up.
When you have experienced all the “headache” that you care to submit to, I shall be grateful for your return of my manuscript, unless you or some of your associates might like to keep it for further reference, and intellectual exasperation. Wishing you good health, and hoping that you are still good at the bat.
Very truly yours,
