Carbon of a letter to R. Bruce Overington, Laurel, Maryland
February 22, 1941
Dear Bruce:-
Many thanks for the announcement of the Solar Radiation lecture at the National Museum next Tuesday. I certainly am sorry to miss this. I would have liked to attend several of the previous ones, all of them being about the Sun. It is fine to see so much interest in this. Whether they say so or not, it appears that contemporary scientists are going to the right place for the take-off and foundation of things. They seem to be getting aware of the fact that everything, past, present and within the predictable future has its origin in the Sun — that we do not have a single scrap of science, philosophy or poetry or even of life but what comes to us literally from the Sun.
I got my Oldsmobile Hydro-Matic Thursday night from your Mid-City Garage. Ada and Marie were with me and we drove around to your house afterwards, but without finding you. I hope you are finding lots of interesting things to do and places to go.
I expect to be back the latter part of the week, and hope to see you.
Sincerely,
Spencer Heath
