Carbon of letter from Heath, 312 Halesworth Street, Santa Ana, California, to Baron Alex DeMengden, Montreal, Canada
Dear Alex:
Remembering my last messages from and concerning you, I find myself in some anxiety about you and your present state of affairs. My own last visit to Montreal was clouded by a week:s illness, so a message by telephone was my only communication with you. I have been entirely well ever since and do hope everything has been as fortunate with you, or at least that you have been on the mend as I think our good friends Harold and Isabelle Roche have been.
I am happy to be receiving notices of events taking place with the Newcomen Society, even though I have not been in New York or any other place from which it was possible for me to attend. I am looking forward to correcting this before too very long. It was certainly a wonderful gift from you that I should have the honor of becoming a member.
My last vivid picture of you is as my happy and vigorous host at your lovely riverside home. I hope I may have good news from you and further happy pictures in my mind.
Cordially,
Spencer Heath
