Carbon of a letter to Beatrice and Irvan O’Connell while visiting them at 214 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia

November 13, 1942

Dear Beatrice — and Irvan:

I am leaving with you for safe-keeping and future reference a complete typescript in loose-leaf binding of my 310-page volume entitled “The Energy Concept of Population, the Foundation of a New Science, Socionomy, the Science of Society.”

The conception and system of ideas outlined in this book are destined at some future time to be cherished and honored as among the greatest illuminations that have ever come to the mind of man and as opening the way to all the blessings and beauties of civilized existence that the heart of mankind has for ages prayed and yearned and its poets dreamed.

This book and its author may be ignored, neglected, unhonored and unsung, but the ideas it sets out belong to the intrinsic nature of the world and man and are thus destined, if not through my discovery of them then through some future rediscovery, to emancipate the world and set mankind marching in fullest joy to the divinest destinies.

There are now thirteen copies in all, two sets of four and a third set of five. The set I am leaving with you is number 2 of set three. I have loaned out other copies as follows, one each to:

Professor Ludwig von Mises, 777 West End Avenue, New York City; complete with Appendix.

Alice Lilly Rona (Ehrenhaft) 1 West 85th Street, New York City; complete except Appendix.

Miss Pearl Grodman, c/o Dr. S. A. Schneidman, 297-12 Jamaica Avenue, Bellaire, Long Island, New York.  Complete except Appendix.

Miss Marie Leighton, 35-11 72nd Street, Jackson

Heights, Long Island, New York.  Complete except Chapter 25, “A Hypothetical Distribution of National Income under Proprietary Public Administration” and the Appendix, “On the Meanings of Principal Terms,” With Index.

The remaining eight copies are with me at the present time. My present plan is to work on them this winter in New York and labor alone for their recognition and publication.

With best love,

 Your father,

The ideas referred in my deed of trust with the New York Trust Company, 45 Wall Street, New York, are contained in this volume and in the various printed booklets that I have on hand and have circulated to a limited extent.
