Carbon of letter from Heath, 312 Halesworth St., Santa Ana, California, to Alice Sears Vanderpool
August 28, 1961
Dear Alice:
Now comes Spencer Heath in his own proper person, who makes affidavit that he is still in the flesh and in full possession of his customary faculties and endowments.
The above voluntary statement I hope will be sufficient to set aside any fears you have had to the contrary. Please thank John Edmunds for his letter of June, 1960, and convey to him my hopes that his world-circling voyage was concluded happily but that his returns otherwise are not all in. Hope you are continuing in good order, able to take care of yourself and doubtless a few others, in part at least, as you always seemed to do.
I have found California quite congenial in many ways, but expect to return to my home in Maryland for some part of the coming season at least. But mail will continue to be forwarded from either place. Your card in May was very welcome and I am happy at being kept so much in mind.
Cordially and affectionately,
