Carbon of a letter re Citadel, Market & Altar to Peter Steele, Director of Education, Associated Industries of Missouri, 2031 Railway Exchange Bldg, St. Louis 1, Missouri

September 24, 1957

Dear Mr. Steele:

Following my reply of March 25th to your letter of February 27th, I wish to advise you that a principal project of this organization at the present time is the publication of CITADEL, MARKET AND ALTAR — Emerging Society. I should like you to have a copy of this development of a philosophy of freedom and of free-enterprise capitalism as a divinely appointed instrument for the realization not only of material, but also of spiritual ideals.

Accordingly, I take great pleasure in presenting to you for the library of your organization and with my compliments a copy of CITADEL, MARKET AND ALTAR. I trust you will enjoy reading it and that you will be stimulated — perhaps also hopefully inspired — by some of is unusual points of view.

Citadel, Market and Altar does not itself deal specifically with the religious aspect. This may be followed, however, by a future volume taking the religious instead of the scientific approach. Meantime, from the purely religious point of view, I enclose also an address, “The Practice of Christian Freedom.”

Thanking you for your cooperation, and with many best wishes,

                                 Sincerely yours,

SH/m
