Dear Miss Pepper:

Let me welcome you as a much nearer neighbor than heretofore. It is interesting to note that you live at the same address as Mr. Henry D. Hervey, who has been attending my groups and who also wrote me a letter about our discussions only two days after yours and I am sorry your further attendance has to be so long delayed. I think you might help me to carry out the Socratic ideal and method, as you have previously described it, especially, [the] “maieutic” part of it. I am sending you one of the old announcements which I think will show you how strongly my thought bends in that direction.

     I shall be pleased to hear from you or to see you before very long, I hope.
