Dear Mr. Street:
I had hoped that I might be back in New York for the coming weekend with the possibility of having the pleasure of some of your further company at a near date. However, I now find that I will not be in New York until Friday, May 9th, but will arrive at that time and remain for at least a week.
I attended the Friends’ Meeting in New York on the 20th which I enjoyed very much, especially the after meeting and then found some very pleasant Sunday dinner companionship at the Pennington next door.
I have also found some increasing interest and pleasure in attending some of the Friends’ Meetings here in Baltimore and mingling with them.
Am exceedingly interested in the letter being circulated by the Friends’ Advancement Committee inviting correspondence of “scientifically” minded persons with a view to their finding an intellectual as well as a religious communion with one another. I feel more and more drawn towards the communion of Friends on both spiritual and intellectual grounds. I know of no other church organization possessing the spirit of absolute freedom and to which I could give allegiance without doctrinal or other reservations.
I trust you are finding more and more satisfaction in what seem to be your ever widening and ever deepening activities.
With best personal regards, I am,
SH:ML Cordially yours,
Enc. Spencer Heath
