Letter to Heath from Gertrude E. Mackenzie (President, Washington Single Tax Club), 1708 Lanier Place N.W., Apt. 306, Washington, D.C.
May 26, 1942
Dear Spencer:
I don’t suppose I shall know whether you get this or not, but as neither of my last two letters was returned, the presumption is that they were delivered all right.
This may be the last Singletax gathering at Riverdale, for financial as well as physical reasons, although this is confidential, as Mrs. Keeley does not want this generally known, at least until after the picnic, so please do not quote me.
We do not of course know whether you complied with Elizabeth Phillips’ request made through me last January in regard to writing to Parker Brothers to ask whether they still handled her Landlord’s Game or not, but at least one friend (John Lawrence Monroe) did, and not long afterwards Elizabeth received a check for $50.00 for no particular reason and we think it may have been the influence of that letter or those letters as the case may be. In case you did write, Elizabeth wants to extend her thanks to you.
In case you should come to this Riverdale picnic, we should be glad to have you give a little impromptu or informal talk about something or other.
Sincerely and Singletaxically yours,
/s/ Gertrude E. Mackenzie
President W.S.T.C.
