Dear Mr. Heath:

     I have just read the delightful article concerning you in the Ellicott City Times of January 25th, and I want to congratulate you. The many great services you have rendered the scientific world will long be remembered, and you will, I am sure, be enrolled as one of Howard County’s outstanding scientists and citizens.

     I note the article refers to Mr. Simon Lake and his submarine. I was only a boy about 12 years old, but my father being a stockholder in the company, took me aboard, and we walked around on the bottom of the Patapsco River. I remember the incident very well.

     I send to you my best wishes for a long and happy life.
