Carbon of letter to John F. Stephens, 20 East Grand Street, Mount Vernon, New York

November 8, 1956

Dear Mr. Stephens:

I cannot tell you how delightful it was to be entertained by you and Mrs. Stephens — including the two juniors — at supper and for the evening yesterday. It was most refreshing to receive so much hospitality, both intellectual and domestic. I am happy to look forward to seeing you both again.

Meantime, I am sending you several little booklets, chiefly on the proprietary administration of community affairs as against the political and fundamentally coercive. I was happy to hear you say that there should be an alternative way for the conduct of community affairs, and that great advances frequently come in ways that are least expected — at least by the constituted authorities and those who are accustomed to thinking in a particular way.

Again thanking both of you for your lovely hospitality, and looking forward to seeing you again, I am

Cordially yours,
