Letter from Dorothy Canfield Fisher, Arlington, Vermont, responsive to Heath’s having sent her the Purposes of the Science of Society Foundation
January 8, 1957
Dear Mr. Heath:
I have been very much impressed by the material you sent me about the Science of Society Foundation and struck by the powerful and beautiful words from Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes on the Christmas greeting card which came with that material.
I would like to quote those words, and wonder if it would trouble you too much to ask you their source in Justice Holmes’ writings. Were they, perhaps, from a letter? They have an informal ring as if they were.
With thanks in advance for help you can give in ascertaining where I may find these words in his writings, I am
Faithfully yours,
/s/ Dorothy Canfield Fisher
