Letter to Agnes Snyder, Chairman, Department of Education, Adelphi College, Garden City, New York, with response dated four days later.

Dear Dr. Snyder:

 

I have just received the spring booklet from Myrin Institute on Reform of the American College. So far, I have only glanced at it, but am exceedingly interested and impressed. The situation is finely analyzed and the corrective measures proposed in the main have long been very dear to my heart.

 

 It is good to know of your present connection with Adelphi College, whose spirit and methods point so much to the future and I greatly admire.

 

 I want you to know about my long-maturing volume, Citadel, Market and Altar, which places the educational function in a very large and constructive general frame. Copy of the jacket advertisement is enclosed. I shall be most happy if you can attend the cocktail party to the press and reviewers on the eve of publication, Tuesday, June 4^th, at the Plaza, New York. I do hope you can attend.

It is certainly a pleasure to hear from you after all these years and to know that your book, Citadel, Market and Altar, is coming out. I certainly congratulate you and will look forward eagerly to reading it.

 

It is with deep regret that my duties here will make it impossible to attend the cocktail party. I do appreciate your having an invitation sent me.
