Dear Spencer:

I certainly appreciated your lovely letter, written on June 4, 1957, the memorable date of the launching party for your book (!) which I know was a great success!!

Time flies on golden wings! I have eagerly awaited for the copy of Citadel, Market and Altar, my copy inscribed with my name and yours! But, alas, it has not yet  appeared, much to my keen disappointment! Here’s to it and the brilliant scintillating ideas it conveys to all humanity! Excelsior!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the sublime article on “The Practice of Christian Freedom!” It is beautifully written and magnificently delineated! I have wanted to show it to Dr. Norton; but the summer schedule has been so hectic that I have not yet had the opportunity.

I do hope that you have been well and happy and that you have been enjoying the summer. Summer School closes here on July 26; I shall be glad to have a vacation for a change.

 Here’s to you!!

Devotedly ever,

(signed) Laura Jean
