Yet there are rich traditions in history and endless contemporary examples of proprietary communities, too long passed over by scholarly minds and in current thought, that employ no technique of coercion yet yield to their proprietary administrators a natural revenue that is gauged to the value of the community services performed, and gauged for each occupant to the value of such portion of the community and of its services as he separately enjoys and for which he willingly pays.
This is the proprietary system, the Voluntary Feudalism of the Anglo-Saxon Free Community as exemplified in the modern corporate hotel properties and in all other community properties whose occupants, permanent or temporary, are well and justly served and in no wise enslaved.
