Dictation by Heath in Spencer MacCallum’s hand for letter to Charlie Schlagel regarding the Irvine Ranch.

Dear Mr. Schlagel

I was very happy to attend the Lions’ Club luncheon a week or more ago and wish to thank you for the opportunity of doing so as your guest. The whole meeting under your genial conduct was a pleasure to attend.

I was particularly glad of the opportunity for a further acquaintance with Mrs. Joan Irvine Burt as the principal speaker. For a long time, I have been keenly interested in the mode of organization and management of the great Irvine property, looking to this huge tract becoming eventually a self-sustaining single community and as a prime example of a public community conducted equally in the interest of its inhabitants and the proprietary public authority.

It was a pleasure to be with you, and I look forward to seeing you again.

Cordially yours,

Spencer Heath
