Dear Dr. Jeffries:
It seems a long time since I had any contact or communication with you. I recall the intellectual hospitality with which you entertained the ideas set out in the manuscript of my CITADEL, MARKET AND ALTAR before it was published, and the interest you showed in my proposed solution of the Suez Canal problem, which no doubt you recognized as a specific application.
In your present retirement, I hope you have found many leisurely interests. I feel that you have exceptional appreciation of the spiritual and intellectual foundations of our Western culture, which I think I have somewhat brought to light in my finally published work. I think you will be happy to note that this has met with some cordial reception both here and abroad, as indicated by the printed matter enclosed, although it has had but little general circulation as yet.
I hope the world-political situation has not been discouraging to you, in view of the long-term movements in history which constitute the general trend.
I often think of you as among the none-too-numerous scientific minds that look to the greater integration between technology and the humanities that seems to be slowly coming about. I am wondering if this is one of your interesting avocations now.
With many good wishes,
Sincerely,
Spencer Heath
