My dear Mr. Heath, —
Your charming Valentine with the enclosed reviews brightened my day radiantly. But more than that it seemed to be a material demonstration of a very positive wish — the desire to hear from you.
And, strangely enough, only yesterday I got down your book to read again the Chapter, ”The Inspiration of Beauty.” It is so transcendentally beautiful that it makes me reverent, inspired, resolute to use to their potentials whatever talents I possess. I feel born anew under the spell of the beauty and truth expressed.
I must go East in the Spring. We must have some good visits. Remember the delightful evening at Princeton? That was lots of fun. I’m no match for such penetrating intellectual speculation, but I love to listen and let your ideas challenge and stimulate my perception! You have a genius for presenting the value and beauty of life, thus making mere mortals feel inspired with fresh vision and new resolve.
It’s always a joy to hear from you. Today it was especially pleasant. Perhaps the Valentine added to the event. I’m sure it did. Thank you for all the things you are. Does this inspire you?
(Signed) Alleen Fisk Evans
