Item 3053

Letter to Heath at Roadsend Gardens, Lawyer Hill, Elkridge, Maryland from H. F. Langenberg, Reinholdt & Gardner, 400 Locust Street, St. Louis 2, Missouri. Penciled by Heath on Langenberg’s letter: “Date — Friday, Oct. 14th, Topic — Outgrowing Government: Free Market Alternatives” In the Originals Envelope is a printed card with “The General Purpose” of the Discussion Club.

April 1960

Dear Mr. Heath:                                      April 13, 1960

At the suggestion of Robert LeFevre, I am writing to you about the possibility of your addressing the Discussion Club, the next time you are in this area or might stop by on your Coast to Coast trips. We recently had Mr. LeFevre spend an evening with our group and had a most enjoyable time.

I believe we are the only so called libertarian group in this area and from what I hear about you, it would be a great honor and privilege to hear you. My only request would be that you let us know about four to six weeks before hand so that we can have printed up and send out invitations. It would therefore help us out no end if we could have your title and 3 or 4 paragraphs of your biography.

      Thanking you.

                            Sincerely,

/s/ H. F. Langenberg

P.S. I would be very happy to put you up at the Racquet Club.

Heath to H. F. Langenberg, Reinholdt & Gardner, 400 Locust Street, St. Louis 2, MO.

April 21, 1960

Dear Mr. Langenberg:

I appreciate your letter of the 13th, prompted by remarks of my very wonderful friend, Bob LeFevre, concerning my contributions towards a more complete understanding of our free enterprise system and what it has ahead for us.

I have only just arrived from California and expect to be in the East, principally at my Foundation headquarters as above, for the next three months. It would surely be a pleasure to meet you and your group if a suitable date can be set coinciding with my return to California, I will write you further as soon as my plans are sufficiently matured.

Wishing the best to you and your organization and cause,

Cordially yours,

Letter to Heath, Science of Society Foundation, Roadsend Gardens, 1502 Montgomery Road, Elkridge 27, Maryland, from H.F. Langenberg, Reiholdt & Gardner, 400 Locust Street, St. Louis 2, Missouri

September 23, 1960

Dear Mr. Heath:

I wish to thank you very kindly for your letter which I have forwarded to Mrs. Augustin Jones, our secretary. She will have invitations printed.

At her suggestion, if you care to send a half dozen copies of your book, “Citadel, Market and Altar” to her, she will endeavor to sell these at our meeting. If they are not all sold, we will return whatever is left.

I have reserved a room for you at the Racquet Club in St. Louis, the night of October 14th, and trust it will be satisfactory.

     Again thanking you.

Sincerely,

/s/ H.F. Langenberg
