William Spencer Heath did not serve in any war. Active mechanical and automotive engineer. Also LLM National University Law School, Washington DC; Member of Bar of Supreme Court of District of Columbia. Member of Aero Club of America and Society of Automotive Engineers. Extensive manufacturer and developer of airplane propellers and other mechanical devices. With factories in Baltimore, MD from 1912 to 1929. Chief American supplier of propellers to U.S. and Allies during Great War. In 1929 sold all business interests including numerous U.S. and foreign patents to Bendix Aviation Corporation.

Other interests (hobbies): History and development of jurisprudence – Political economy. Active in Chicago Single Tax Club 1900-1901 and continuous supporter of S.T. movement to date. Member of Manhattan S.T. Club (founded by Henry George) and United Committee for Taxation of Land Values, Great Britain. Pedagogy and Education – life-long amateur interest. General Science and Literature – Wide range of reading interest. Horticulture -Active amateur interest. Music – intensely appreciative but almost illiterate. National Politics – Democratic and always a Free Trader.

Irving W. Payne /see below/, son of Andrew. grandson of George Payne. George, son of Gideon Payne and Phoebe Hill Payne.  Brother of William Payne—my grandfather. He was born in Farmington, New York, March 24, 1807.

Selinda Amelia (Payne) Heath, born Farmington, New York, January 7, 1847, died January 3, 1931, Oakton, Virginia.

Gideon Payne and his wife, Phoebe Hill, were Quakers. Buried in Quaker cemetery Farmington, New York.

Lavinia Maria (Frost) Payne — Pension. Go to Room 390, Veterans’ Bureau, Mr. Murdock. Get certificate number. Go to Archives Building for records.

Payne, 4017 Leland Street, Chevy Chase, Mary­land, has the original daguerrotype.  She is my (Spencer Heath’s) grandfather William Payne’s mother.  Born January 12, 1771, Swansea, Massachusetts. Died April 2, 1854.

Married Gideon Payne at Adams, Massachusetts.  Buckingham has negatives.
