Letter to Heath at Elkridge, Md. from Gladwin Bouton, Tenafly, NJ

Dear Mr. Heath:

 

Herewith is copy of letter to Mr. Buttenheim, with a few trivial changes as permitted; and I have made the addition to the Schantz letter suggested by Mr. Salmon.

 

I also want to have this letter, in its finally approved form, go to all real estate people – especially the leaders. I^’d like nothing better than to concentrate on this particular project, and could do so presently with a little help. If I could count on a nominal but steady income (say $25 weekly or $100 monthly), I could devote myself intensively to this task and probably soon be in position to return such payments with interest.

The Ingersoll campaign has had unexpected ramifications, and one of them has compelled me to postpone printing the new letterheads until a certain point is determined, which I trust will be agreeable to you.

Herewith is a form which Mr. Hall and I hope to send to thousands of important business men; would you be willing to have the quoted paragraphs used in connection with your name or would you prefer to have the reference impersonal?

 

There is in Mr. Buttenheim’s organization The American City Bureau which handles money-raising campaigns, and there may be some advantage for us in this fact if we undertake extending your ideas with the thoroughness which their importance justifies. Some initial financing might be necessary to get The Bureau at work.

 

Please let me know your reaction to the above suggestions, and if there is a possibility of active cooperation on some feasible basis I’ll try to hold myself in readiness to do my part; in any case you know how eager I am to help spread your ideas.
