Normally, there are more opportunities for supplying satisfactions than there are people to grasp those opportunities. But when that normal functioning of Society is achieved, men will have many options and therefore much freedom of choice as to where, when, how and under what circumstances they will engage themselves with each other. This means that people will choose occupations and employments very largely on other than mere money-making considerations; they will integrate themselves not only economically but culturally, the normally acting economic basis providing the necessary means to this. And in their cultural integrations, men will find their highest and noblest self-expression and self-realization.
Henry George wrote beautifully about how as our lower wants are satisfied our higher ones take their place.
